Great Western Green Dragons, 4079 and 6990, on the KWVR Gala Trains March 2024
The weather was a little more kind this year, and the GWR locos certainly entertained everyone with their bark and power. This is a compendium of clips of Pendennis Castle and Witherslack Hall in full cry during Thurs, Friday and Saturday. Locations include Alpha St Steps, The Mound, Damems Loops, Hoot Corner, Oakworth Yard, Mytholmes, Ebor Road, Bridges 27 and 28,Haworth Yard and more. They are not in chronological order. I do have a Lineside Permit and permission to film at these locations. Please enjoy. It was good to see old friends, Hi Lucky Dog, and meet new people - David Wilde, and Andy from near Bourne! watch in HD, SD is rubbish!

Maunsell's V Class locos were classified as 5P and given tough jobs across the intermediate lines south of London. Repton lasted just over 24 years then went off to USA, but eventually came back and now is plying its power on the Whitby line as well as the Grosmont to Pickering Section. here are clips form Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Autumn Gala.

From a lofty position on Hawthorn Hill , we see Stanier Black 5 Eric Treacy hammer past Water Ark bridge 2 and on up the 1 in 49 gradient under the over bridge at Darnholme. As usual, the staccato 2 cylinder exhaust beat is stunning as it echoes from the woods and cuttings. When the Std 4 MT tank loco ran out of water on the climb to Moorgates Bridge it seemed that operations maybe funereal; BUT, speedy emergency protocols were put into force and the resident 9F , lurking at Levisham was requested as the solution to the problem. After a quick coupling up and hose connections, the 9F barks away from the fields near Thornhill farm and hammers towards the summit. Wow...

In the afternoon of the Spring Gala, the Bagnall 401 Vulcan was the train loco and the Pocket Rocket had the task of banking the Raspberry and Custards up Kelling Bank. I did have some problem with one of the tripod leg clasps so it was not a level picture at the end!

One of the highlights of the Sunday runs at the NNR galas is the powerful double headers - alas the WD wasn't fit to run, so the big duo of a Class 9P and an 7P would zoom through Weybourne and up Kelling Bank .

The Bressingham Gardens Museum has a variety of gauges, and here we see how they cross over each other and how locos get round the layout. It was a beautiful day and a joy to be there filming.

This time it was the visiting rebuilt West Country Class Pacific "Eddystone" was given the job of hauling the early ECS from Sheringham to Holt. And right on schedule, and it perfect conditions, the loco shuffles up Weybourne bank and towards the station.

Monster power for the ECS train to Holt - Black Prince pounds up the Bank passed the vantage point , an area of de - forested pines , giving a great panoramic vista for filming. I didn't have any control of the WD making its way out of the yard and its steam obscuring some of the view - this loco failed at the end of the day .
